White Wash

Generally I gravitate towards more brightly hued walls, but lately I've begun to have a certain appreciation for a clean, white walled room. They provide such a nice blank canvas for other pops of color around a space. Here are a few of my favorites I've spied recently.

{Back to Basics}

This is quite possibly the coolest thing I've seen in a while. If you didn't realize it, all these objects are handmade completely from paper. Check out the video to see how it was done.

"Simply Perfect"

If you live in Chicago, you may have noticed an interesting development taking place in the formerly empty storefront of 50 E. Chicago Ave. Patrón has partnered with 30 up-and-coming artists across the country to create live studio spaces for the viewing public, giving the artists an opportunity to create a piece of work inspired by the Patrón "Simply Perfect" mantra. The studios are active throughout the week, and when the spaces aren't being occupied, the art is on display along with a video showing the works' progress. The pieces with later be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the Chicago Artists' Coalition.

It's that Time

Wanna know a secret? I'm a girl of quite simple tastes. Having a fantastic chef as a father has done absolutely nothing to convert my tastebuds from 5 year old to foodie. Just take a look at my Pintrest board of my favortie foods and you'll find the likes of grilled cheese sandwiches, avocado on toast, and bagles with salmon and cream cheese. Today however, we're going to focus on the classic peanut butter and jelly, but with a slight twist.

21 before 22

Although my birthday was over 4 months ago, I saw this idea on A Beautiful Mess today and I loved the idea so much, I just had to steal it. Here is my list of 21 things I want to accomplish before I turn 22 (on July 16, 2012, if you were wondering):
1. Visit Boston (my best friend Clair lives there and I've yet to visit since she moved three years ago) Didn't quite make it, but I will be going on the 18th, just 2 days after my birthday
2. Read more Read "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" and "My Lobotomy" Working on "Memoirs of a Geisha" right now
3. Make more art.
4. Travel to a new country (this June, I went on my first trip abroad, to the UAE)
5. Get a pet. Preferably a dog, but if that's not possible, anything cute and fluffy will do :)
6. Take care of a plant. I suppose that would be a good thing to start with before I get a pet.
7. Cook more.
8. Visit a casino and gamble for the first time.
9. Go back to school.
10. Take a boat ride on Lake Michigan.
11. Learn to make eggs benedict.
12. Go to a Bulls game.
13. Visit New York again (the new home of my other besties Alison and Peggy)
14. Exercise more.
15. Take a road trip.
16. Become more frugal.
17. Learn more about palmistry, dream interpretation, and tarot.
18. Gain 100 followers on this blog.
19. Buy a new camera.
20. Sing karaoke.
21. Have a dinner party.

{Land's End Canvas}

The new Land's End Canvas catalogue came in the mail today and I must say the looks are amazing! Makes me want to go on a wintery camping trip. Cabins, plaid, chunky sweaters, hot chocolate- it all sounds so fun and romantic :) P.S. I'm really digging the amount of models of color they're employing. Props!

One of my favorite things about Christmas is watching Pee-Wee's Christmas Special. My brothers and I watched it on VHS every single year as kids. How can you not love the off-beat quirkiness and copious amounts of 80's celebs? I die.
